I have an old box call, but it doesn't have a good sound anymore. Can it be fixed?
Yes, many times it just needs a little tuning. Check to make sure there are no cracks in the wood because that will deaden the sound. Next adjust the lid so that it sits level on top of the sound board. Then clean the wood on the lid and the sound board with a clean cloth or scour brush to get the old chalk out. Now put some fresh oil-free non greasy chalk from Lynch on the lid wiping across the grain. Test your box and adjust lid spring in or out till it sounds like you want. Chalking Video

I got a brand new Lynch box call today and want to learn how to call a wild turkey. How can I learn the turkey language for future hunting success?
Mr. Lynch put together a book and a record with the turkey language illustrated. The book is available here on our website. We are working on getting the record converted to an audio file for future instruction. The boxes do come with instructions for proper operation of each call.

What is the best way to store my old Lynch box call?
A good place to store your box call when not in use is a place with a controlled climate and little moisture. If you have an old gun cabinet, chest of drawers or a trunk box, these places will keep the call from being crushed and ready for the next season. In a storage closet in the house is ideal.

Does Lynch have other turkey calls other than box calls?
Many people don't know, but Lynch has a slate call called The Jet Slate. It was one of the original calls that started the largest turkey call company in the world in 1940. Many companies have tried to imitate it, but none have that sweet soft sound that turkeys love. Lynch also added the round pot slate calls to their turkey call line-up. Another addition has been the ever-popular diaphragm mouth calls which help the hunter to make little movement when a bird is in close.

How do I know what call to buy as a new turkey hunter?
If you are just getting started in turkey hunting and want a call that is easy to use, the Lynch Fool Proof Box Model 101 is hard to beat. It has one side sound board and the other side is a stop. You simply slide the lid back and forth and it will make a perfect realistic hen yelp. Even the most experienced hunters still rely on the power of the Ol' Fool Proof to pull an Ol' Longbeard in close. The next choice would be a slate friction call. Both are very popular calls for all hunters.

Why do hunters purchase owl calls and crow calls for turkey hunting?
One of the most important advantages a turkey hunter can have when hunting wild turkeys is to know where the gobbler is located. Many hunters prefer to locate a gobbler using a method called shock gobbling. By using an owl call in the morning or a crow call up during the day, a hunter can get a turkey to gobble at these loud shock sounds. One can use a turkey call to do this as well, but the downside is that you are telling him where you are and it may not be the right place and time for a good set-up. Use the shock method when possible and you be in control of the next move.
